What we are doing today:
Creating a Banner in photoshop
Uploading the banner to your Page elements page
Changing the sidebar and Post title font to something you love
Adding other sidebar titles.
Files to download:
Today I am giving you a ZIP file to download. It contains all the images you see in the picture below! This is for you to download and play with it to make a pretty blog banner, following my instructions. Here's the FILE. Click on the link and follow the opening instructions as prompted by your operating system. These are PNG files which will open in photoshop but you can also open them in Word.
this BANNER is a freebie for you: DOWNLOAD... All you do is open the image in a new window and right click the image and click SAVE AS. Now you can add it to your page elements as a header. See the Video too.

Making the Banner in screenshots + Instructions:
Image Above: This is how the banner will look... I made this for Louise's BLOG make-over!
1. Open a new image: Make sure that "pixels" is selected. You can see the size in the image. Blogger will fit your image to the size of your header, so you can work a little bigger!
2. Drag some patterned paper onto the blank image.
3. Drag the scalloped border onto the image. I scanned this little border in with my scanner.
4. I "colored" my little bird with some papers and feathers. Once you have done that click "merge visible". Now you can drag the bird onto the image. You will have to make it a little smaller.
5. If you look at the arrow in the image above, you will see all the layers. A great tip for first time photoshop users is this: The very first layer from the top will be the image that's in front. So, if you want to move an image to the back, like the little twig must be behind the bird, the twig layer must be under the bird in the layer bar.
6. Add some text!
7. Adjust the opacity by sliding the bar. Be sure that the LAYER which opacity you want to adjust is selected. (see the bigger arrow)
8. Now, again target the pink background layer (see right arrow) and then click your eraser tool and select a brush. Erase some of the background.
9. Once your are done click > LAYERS> Flatten image. Click SAVE AS. When you save the picture make sure it says JPEG in BOTH places where the arrow points.
Leave me a comment if you are HAPPY and if you need HELP...The only condition for me to HELP is that you SHOULD HAVE watched ALL the videos and read all the instructions!

This is one of the coolest things! You can make so many different fonts and it's all free! It took me 15 minutes. The website is here: YOUR FONTS.COM also, watch the video on how to use it over there.

I'm kind of struggling with all of the lessons so far since I am not familiar with photoshop that much and I have never worked with digital elements. I'm kind of lost...
